Packology is a new concept of trade event organised by UCIMA (Association of Italian Makers of Automatic Packaging and Processing Machines) and Fiera Rimini that combines the classic exhibition formula with a calendar full of events, activities and partnerships with bodies, institutions, research and university institutes, and national and international opinion movements that work around the processing and packaging sector.

Packology 2013 will therefore be the event of reference for the entire community of national and international industry professionals to be held in Rimini from Tuesday 11th to Friday 14th June, 2013.

The totally new programme will include the following activities:

TECHNICAL AREA

UNIVERSITY AREA: a space dedicated to Universities, university departments, university spin-offs and research bodies that will present research activities, projects and innovations applied to the packaging and processing industry.

BUSINESS SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: conference and training focus groups where it will be possible to develop the most current and important themes linked to business social responsibility.

PACKAGING Technology Transfer Day: Project, in cooperation with the CRIT (Research and Technological Innovation Centre), for implementing a network for materials research, processes and machines offered or requested by researchers, research bodies, universities and businesses. Organisation of B2B meetings and presentation conferences with awards for the most deserving projects.

START-UP: exhibit area dedicated to start-up businesses or micro-businesses dedicated to the presentation of innovative application solutions/technologies.

PACKOLOGY TECHNICAL MEETINGS: schedule of conferences, technological symposiums and training courses that will be held at the Packology meeting point by exhibiting businesses or planned by the organisers. This will be an opportunity during the expo for machine builders, technology suppliers and end-users to meet and discuss the future needs of the market.

OMAC AND PLC OPEN: Demonstrations and conferences on what is new in the field of machine-to-machine and machine-to-operator dialogue thanks to IT innovations.

GS1 AREA: Exhibit space and conference activities linked to innovations in coding and traceability.

CREATIVE AREA

PACKOLOGY PRODUCT AWARD: award for innovative packaging already on the market in collaboration with the ADI (Association for Industrial Design).

IED LAB: Exhibit featuring the innovative and eco-sustainable packaging projects developed by the students of Product Design of the Milan centre of the IED (European Institute of Design).

COMMERCIAL AREA

PACKOLOGY BUSINESS LOUNGE: business lounge area open to exhibitors and official buyer delegations, equipped with a small coffee area and free Wi-Fi.

PACKOLOGY MEETING POINT: area open to exhibitors and visitors that will host meetings, training seminars and press conferences.

FOCUS ON COUNTRY: conferences featuring in-depth discussion of the aspects linked to machine and finished product exports to certain target countries and the organisation of official buyer delegations.

EXHIBIT AREA

The exhibit space dedicated to packaging and processing technologies, featuring a special section dedicated to packing, will aim mainly at a specific target of visitors  consisting of end-users coming from Italy, the Mediterranean area as well as Eastern and Western Europe
